If you’ve ever wondered how someone becomes a registered dietitian in Eastbourne, my story begins far away — in Berlin, in a family where hospitality was simply part of everyday life. My parents worked in the industry, so kitchens, food, and people were always around me. It felt natural that, after school, I began a three‑year apprenticeship to become a chef. By 19, I was fully qualified and ready to explore the world.
A Culinary Life Across Europe
My chef’s jacket took me to some extraordinary places:
- St. Moritz, Switzerland — where I met my now husband, also a chef
- Sylt and Cologne in Germany
- Klosters and Samnaun in Switzerland
- Paris, France
- And a full year at Claridge’s in London, which still feels like a “wow” moment even now
I worked in hotel and restaurant kitchens as both a chef and pastry chef, cooked for celebrities, and even members of the royal family. I loved the creativity, the pace, the teamwork — and the privilege of feeding people.
But something inside me kept whispering that there was more I wanted to do.
The Turning Point: Realising I Wanted to Help People More Directly
Around this time, my father‑in‑law was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. He wasn’t doing well. But everything changed when he started working with a dietitian. Watching his transformation — stabilised blood sugar, weight loss, renewed energy, and a return to enjoying life — was profound.
It was the first time I truly understood the power of nutrition as medicine.
And it changed the direction of my life.
Studying Dietetics: A New Chapter Begins
I left the kitchen and went back to study nutrition and dietetics at Marienhospital Stuttgart, a university hospital linked to Tübingen. After three years of intensive training, I qualified as a state registered Dietitian.
My first role was at the prestigious 5‑star private Klinik Schloss Mammern in Switzerland. I eventually became Head of Nutrition and Dietetics and stayed for 10 years — years filled with learning, leadership, and supporting people through complex health journeys.
London, Private Practice, and the Birth of “London Dietitian”
After relocating to London, I became HCPC‑registered and joined the British Dietetic Association. Soon after, I opened my own practice, running successful clinics for over a decade in…
- Little Venice
- Harley Street
- North London
This is also when I chose the name London Dietitian — a name that reflected where my practice was born and the community I served at the time. Over the years, the name became part of my professional identity, and many people still find me through it today.
I also collaborated with start‑ups (including Huel, long before it became a household name) and contributed to publications like Men’s Health and Tesco Magazine.
Then the pandemic arrived.
Like many, I had to rethink everything. I closed my London clinics and moved my work online — something I could never have imagined before. But it worked. In fact, it opened the door to supporting clients across the UK, from Cornwall to Scotland, without the limitations of geography.
From London to Eastbourne — and Supporting Clients UK‑Wide
After Covid, we moved to the beautiful seaside town of Eastbourne, where I now work as a registered dietitian and nutritionist. I see clients face‑to‑face in Eastbourne, but I also continue to support people online throughout the UK.
This hybrid model means you can work with me whether you’re in Eastbourne, London, Manchester, Edinburgh — or anywhere in between. Many clients appreciate the flexibility, privacy, and ease of online sessions, while others enjoy the option of in‑person appointments on the Sunshine Coast.
A lot of my work today focuses on gut health — if you’re experiencing symptoms, you might find my post on signs of poor gut health helpful.
Personal Experiences That Shape My Practice
My work isn’t just professional — it’s deeply personal.
Supporting my mum through rheumatoid arthritis
Seeing how dietary and lifestyle changes helped her regain energy, mobility, and joy reinforced my belief in the body’s ability to heal when given the right support.
My own cancer diagnosis
Over 10 years ago, I faced cancer myself. The weight loss, the gruelling treatment, the loss of appetite — it was tough. But my background in nutrition helped me nourish my body through treatment and recovery. It gave me a level of empathy and understanding that I bring into every consultation.
These experiences taught me that nutrition is never just about food. It’s about resilience, compassion, and meeting people where they are.
Why I Still Love What I Do
Today, I support clients online across the UK and in Eastbourne with personalised nutrition and behaviour change — if you’re curious about what it’s like, you can read more about working with a dietitian.
What inspires me is simple:
- Helping people feel better
- Supporting them to manage symptoms and long‑term conditions
- Improving energy, sleep, digestion, and wellbeing
- Teaching them how to eat in a way that feels good and sustainable
- Guiding them through behaviour change so improvements last
- Empowering them to trust their bodies again
I’m not only a dietitian and nutritionist — I’m also a health coach. To better understand how people think, respond, and create habits, I studied NLP (Neuro‑Linguistic Programming). It helps me support clients more effectively and compassionately.

Life Outside the Clinic
When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me:
- Rollerskating along the Eastbourne seafront
- Pottering in my garden or allotment
- Exploring the countryside in Bertie, my campervan
- Or enjoying ballroom dancing or game nights with my husband and neighbours
These moments keep me grounded, joyful, and connected to the world around me.
